Name

The name of the club is:

Wright State University Amateur Radio Club

Affiliation

The club is affiliated strongly with the Wright State University High Altitude Balloon Team and initiated primarily as an elite support group for that activity.

Meetings

Meetings precede the first balloon team meeting of each month by 15 minutes unless otherwise announced in advance (no less than one week notice for an official meeting). Voting and discussion of issues can be conducted by email at the discretion of the president.

Officers

The club has one officer, president, who conducts meetings and votes as well as coordinating events and activities, with the support of the members. The president must be a student of WSU when a student member is willing and able.

Elections are held each Fall. The presidency may be retained by a graduated student until replaced by election. Replacement is immediate upon count of the vote.

Trustee

The trustee is a faculty advisor of the WSU High Altitude Balloon Team selected by the faculty advisors.

Members

Voting membership

Voting membership requires a Technician license or better in addition to being either

  • Faculty or staff of Wright State University
  • A student of Wright State University
  • An alumnus of Wright State University
  • Membership approval by the Trustee
  • Membership approval by the majority of club members

Membership removal

A member is automatically removed from the club roster after 6 months of non-contact with the club or 6 months after moving outside of the south-western Ohio region.

Members may also be removed with the approval of the trustee and a majority vote of the membership.

Non-voting membership

Non-voting membership requires only the approval of the trustee.

The membership roster

The membership roster is to remain a locked page editable only by the trustee.

Modification of Bylaws

Modification of the Bylaws requires a vote exceeding 2/3 of the current membership. Votes are recorded in the minutes.

The Bylaws are to be a locked page on the wiki editable only by the Trustee.

Usage of club call sign

In addition to FCC limitations on usage of club call signs, usage of the club call sign is prohibited without prior approval of the Trustee.

Approval is automatically granted for usage on:

  • The club fixed station
  • The High Altitude Balloon
  • Mobile radios being used during tracking and recovery of the balloon
  • Other club approved activities.
