Welcome to the Biomedical, Industrial & Human Factors Engineering Department !

The BIE Department is the only academic unit, nationally, to share programs in Biomedical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering and Human Factors Engineering.  The programs are human centered and focused on improving the complex human-technical systems of today.

 
The BIE vision is to be nationally recognized for excellence in education and for cutting-edge research in specific engineering areas of biomedical, industrial and systems, human factors and operations research.  This work leverages on Department expertise in biomedical imaging, biomechanical ergonomics, human-integrated systems, large-scale optimization and modeling and simulation.

The Department of Biomedical, Industrial & Human Factors Engineering offers a variety of engineering-related educational experiences.  The department offers undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Industrial & Systems Engineering.  Our Masters in Engineering features programs in the Biomedical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, and Human Factors Engineering.  Department research is prominent in the Ph.D. in Engineering program in three focus areas: Industrial & Human Systems, Material and Nanotechnology and Sensor and Signal Processing.
