Dr. Hangartner is a professor in the Department of Biomedical, Industrial and Human Factors Engineering, in the Department of Medicine, and in the Department of Physics at Wright State University. He currently holds the title of Brage Golding Distinguished Professor of Research. He is also the director of the Biomedical Imaging Laboratory, which is located at Miami Valley Hospital. Dr. Hangartner is a native of Switzerland. This is his tenth year at Wright State University. He earned his Dr. sc. nat. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, in 1978. Previous positions include: research associate, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology; assistant and associate professor of Applied Sciences in Medicine and Physics at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Awards Dr. Hangartner has received include three AHFMR (Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research) scholarships from January 1,1981 through June 1991. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, a member of the American Institute of Physics, and the New York Academy of Science. His publications reflect research interests in the development of non-invasive methods for the quantitative measurement of bone density as well as in the application of these methods to clinical problems, predominantly osteoporosis.
