C.L. Phillip Chen, Ph.D., CSE, has received funding in the amount of $12,000 from Technical Management Concepts, Inc., for his proposal entitled "Design Using Neural Networks."

Travis Doom, Ph.D., CSE, attended the Air Force Electronic Parts Obsolescence Initiative Workshop held April 13-14 in Dayton, OH.

Thomas N. Hangartner, Ph.D., BHE, has received funding in the amount of $136,918 from Covance, Inc., for his proposal entitled "Treatment of Established Osteoporosis Deformities."

Lang Hong, Ph.D., EE, has received funding in the amount of $50,000 from the Air Force Research Laboratory for his proposal entitled "Multiplatform Cooperative Fire Control."

Tim Leger, MSME candidate, presented a paper entitled "Efficient Determination of Aeroelastic Stability Properties Using a Direct Method" at the 40th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials (SDM) Conference, April 12-15, St. Louis, MO.

T. K. Prasad, Ph.D., CSE, has received additional funding in the amount of $11,120 from Renaissance Engineering, Inc., for his proposal entitled "Computer- Assisted Document Interpretation Tools."

Arnab K. Shaw Ph.D., EE, and William S. McCormick, Ph.D., EE, have received funding in the amount of $60,000 from Mission Research Corporation for their proposal entitled "Automatic Target Recognition Systems."

Thomas A. Sudkamp, Ph.D., CSE, has received funding in the amount of $20,000 from OAO Corporation via a U.S. Army Research Laboratory Technical Support and Training Contract for his proposal entitled "Fuzzy Logic Research."

J. Mitch Wolff, Ph.D., ME, and Ramana V. Grandhi, Ph.D., ME, have received funding in the amount of $75,000 from the Air Force Research Laboratory for their proposal entitled "Precision Design, Modeling and Instrumentation in Turbomachinery."

J. Mitch Wolff, Ph.D., ME, co-authored the following papers which were presented at the 24th Annual Dayton-Cincinnati Aerospace Science Symposium, April 9:

with Peter Koch (presenter) and Julie Moran, MSME candidates, paper entitled "Three Dimensional Vortical Forced Response Aerodynamic Analysis."

with Tim Leger (presenter), MSME candidate, and P. Beran, paper entitled "Enhancements to a Direct Aeroelastic Stability Computational Model."

with Hiroshi Kobayashi (pre-senter), MSME candidate, paper entitled "High Speed Turbo-machinery Transient Surface Pressure Measurement Analysis."

Dr. Wolff also chaired a session on turbomachinery sponsored by the Wright State University student section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
