CECS Academic and Research Scholarship (CARS)
The CECS Achievement and Research Scholarship (CARS) provides a unique
research opportunity and scholarship award to undergraduate students who
have shown high standards of academic achievement and who possess strong
potential in the field of research.
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) is focusing its
research and educational programs on preparing students to better realize
the opportunities that technology provides. Turning our students into
global leaders, creating new technologies in engineering and computer
science, and commercializing these technologies to create jobs will have a
positive impact on the evolution of technology around the world.
Emphasizing quality, dedication, and the nurturing of creative talent among
our students and faculty, our unique synergistic partnerships with local and
regional government, the military, and commercial activities it is not
surprising that the Chronicle of Higher Education has ranked the CECS Ph.D.
faculty as fourth nationally.
The CARS program is pleased to pair our some of our most superior
undergraduate students with our renowned faculty members to become part of
an exciting research team related to each student's program of study.

I decided to major in Computer Engineering because I have always had a love for and been good with technology. As a result, I get upset when I see people get frustrated with computers and technology, when the solution may be something simple. I am really looking forward to being able to take part in this opportunity.

Here at Wright State I plan to complete a dual-major in computer engineering and engineering physics. I think that the CARS program will give me an advantage over other students wishing to conduct research in any graduate school I choose to attend, and will allow me to get more involved in all aspects of engineering as an undergrad. I'm excited about many of the projects that are being conducted at Wright State now, and will likely focus in an area of robotics, intelligent agents, soft-computing, or artificial intelligence. Thank you to anyone who has helped make this program possible!

My original goal after graduation was to attend medical school and become an emergency pediatrician. Although this is still a viable plan, I have found great interest in the area of nano particles for neurological drug delivery as well as deep brain stimulation as a therapy for mental illnesses and physical tics. Outside of school work, I am a member of the National Society of Collegiate scholars, the Student Honors Society, National Society of Women engineers, National Society of Biomedical Engineers and Alpha Lambda Delta. I also enjoy mountain biking and distance running and I am involved in the Running Raiders.

I've recently started working in the CAPEC/Cradle lab under Dr. Huang
using a new software called SCTetra. It's a new program not available
on the open market yet that simulates many things, such as heat
transfer, gas diffusion and velocity and other things that could
only be accomplished through the use of multiple programs before.
My first project was to model the flow of ammonia out of a pipe on the roof
of an arena due to a concern that if the pipe was used (for emergency ventilation of the ammonia tank), the gas may find its way back into the building. As part of the research project I had to take measurements from the roof, and construct a model of the building using SolidWorks, which I will soon transfer over to SCTetra to begin running simulations.
