  • Call for Papers: 2010 AIAA Regional Student Conference

2010 AIAA Region III Regional Student Conference
    Call for Papers
    April 10 - 11, 2010
    Purdue University

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) sponsors student conferences in each AIAA Region as a means to encourage students in aerospace related fields to discuss research, exchange knowledge, and generate interest in the field of aerospace engineering. This Call for Papers solicits papers for the Region III Regional Student Conference.

AIAA has three distinct paper competitions, an undergraduate, a masters division and a team division. The prizes are as follows:
    • First place: $500 USD and a trip to the Aerospace Sciences Meeting in January, 2011 for one author.
    • Second Place: $300 USD
    • Third Place: $250 USD

Regardless of category, only one author will be funded to attend the Aerospace Sciences Meeting in Orlando, FL.

    Rules for the AIAA Competition:
    1. Papers must be prepare according o the AIAA Author Kit (see http://www.aiaa.org/content.cfm?pageid=396) in a single column format. Papers, including tables, figures and acknowledgments can be no longer than 11
      pages total.
    2. For the Masters and Undergraduate category only two student authors can be listed on the paper. The Team category can have 3 – 10 student authors listed. Faculty advisors from a University may be listed as co - authors. Please note that NASA advisors, Industry advisors, etc. may NOT be listed as co - authors; they should instead be noted in the paper acknowledgment.
    3. Papers submitted to the Regional Student Conferences should not be submitted for presentation or publication to any other conference or journal until and after the Regional Student Conference. If the paper is not the first place Undergraduate, Masters, or Team paper, the paper may then be submitted to other conferences or journals.

In addition, the Region funds regional prizes for the best presentations in the undergraduate and masters divisions. Please note that no trip to the Aerospace Sciences Meeting is included in these prizes. These awards are as follows:
    First Place: $ 250
    Second Place: $150
Third Place (for the undergraduate competition only): $100
All presentations will be automatically considered for the regional prizes. Awards will be based solely on the quality of the oral presentation, not on the paper.

For details about the conference's registration and all logistics, please go to the Regional web site: http://region3.aiaastudentconference.org.
To submit an abstract please go to http://region3.aiaastudentconference.org and register. When you register, indicate that you intend to present at the conference. You may submit your abstract after the registration is complete.

  • Would you like to live and study in a CECS "House" next year?

Engineering & Computer Science "House" Program for 2010-11

Would you like to live & study with other ECS students in a campus apartment dedicated to ECS majors next year? Residence Services and the College of Engineering & Computer Science are co-sponsoring a residential "House" program to encourage your success during the 2010-2011 Academic Year, with an option for summer.

    Where will I live?:
The "House" program will be located in the newly furnished College Park apartments (four private bedrooms, two baths, full kitchen, washer dryer, and more). For more details and floor plans, go to http://www.wright.edu/housing/options/college.html.

    Who is eligible?:
Current residents in the ECS programs are eligible. These individuals will be able to 'pull in' others who they want to have as roommates, (including friends whether they're in ECS or not, regardless of their current residence on or off-campus) and transfers who plan to attend WSU next year.

    How do I sign up?:
Sign up by sending an e-mail to housing@wright.edu before February 5, 2010. The subject line should say "ECS House", with the name and UID of the resident. Residents who want to fill an entire four bedroom unit should include the names of the other residents in their e-mail, and those students should send their own e-mail with preferred roommates as well, to ensure that roommate group members are mutual selections. Groups of four students who draw entire apartments will be given priority in the assignment process.

    What about Room Selection?
Students in this program will skip Room Selection, however residents must come to Residence Services to make a pre-payment by April 1, 2010 to complete their application, like everyone else, and choose their apartment from those that will be allocated for the program. All apartments will be assigned according to the time and date of the completion of the application (first come, first served). If you have any questions, please contact us Toll-Free at 1-866-WSU-HOME (1-866-978-4663) or e-mail at housing@wright.edu.

Any remaining spaces in this building that are still open after February 5, 2010 may be filled during Room Selection on a first come, first served basis by other students. We will consolidate assignments to encourage and support the success of the primary group in the building via programming and other activities focused on their academic interests and related topics.
