Dean's Student Advisory Board

The Dean's Student Advisory Board (DSAB) was organized during spring quarter 2007 by CECS Senator, Ben Ausdenmoore (BME). The DSAB is comprised of students from all of the departments within the College. Students apply for membership and are selected after review of applications and an interview.

The primary purpose of DSAB is to serve as a direct line of communication between the students and the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The Board meets several times throughout the academic year to discuss matters relevant to students in the College. The chair of the board is responsible for reporting concerns and ideas that the DSAB has developed during the meetings to the Dean.

Graduate BME

auld.2@wright.edu

WSU Experience:

Stephanie has been active in a variety of organizations in the College of Engineering and Computer Science and has held leadership positions in some. She was the president of the BioMedical Engineering Society and the Biomedical, Industrial and Human Factors Student Advisory Board. She has also served as a Student Ambassador and took part in the Leadership Institute.

DSAB Goals:

Stephanie would like to ensure, through an interface between the DSAB and the CECS students, that every student has the opportunity to make their experience at WSU the best possible.

Adrian Bayraktaroglu

DSAB member

Undergraduate EE

bayraktaroglu.3@wright.edu

WSU Experience:

Adrian began attending WSU in 2006 after 5 years in the military.  He is currently the treasurer for IEEE and is also involved in several university activities such as the March of Dimes, Toastmasters International, and the Asian Student Association.

Goals for DSAB:

He feels that there are a lot of people with some excellent ideas on how to improve the learning experience within the CECS but have very few outlets to share them.  He wants the DSAB to be accessed easily by students so that those ideas can be shared with the faculty and recognition can be given to the students.

He also wants the DSAB to become more involved with helping students find co-op positions that may lead to full time employment upon graduation with a degree from the CECS.

Christine Eichenlaub

DSAB member

Undergraduate BME

eichenlaub.2@wright.edu

WSU Experience:

Christine is graduating in June 2009 with her Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering. She started at Wright State in fall 2005. She has been a part of the Student Honors Association, the Biomedical Engineering Society, and participated in many volunteer activities. She studied abroad in Ireland through the WSU ambassadors program and highly recommends the study abroad experience to anyone who is interested.

Future Plans/ DSAB Goals:

Christine’s plans after graduation are open. She is considering full time employment or beginning grad school. Her goals for DSAB include enriching the continued growth of the board and upholding the DSAB mission statement.

Charlie Fox

WSU Experience:

Charlie’s experience at WSU has been unforgettable due to the students and teachers he has had the opportunity to meet. He enjoys learning about how things work and feels that he has always been challenged with his course work. He will feel honored to have a degree from WSU in Mechanical Engineering.

Goals for DSAB:

A goal he has in the future for the DSAB is to fully fund the quarterly newsletter in to some extent.

Mike George

DSAB member

Undergraduate EE

george.43@wright.edu

WSU Experience:

Mike believes the professors and department staff are truly engaged in seeing each student succeed, and it reflects in the quality of their teaching and the welcoming atmosphere in the College of Engineering & Computer Science.  Throughout his undergraduate at Wright State, he has had the chance to learn both from within his classes and from giving back to the campus community.

DSAB Goals:

Mike would like to see the Dean's Student Advisory Board enhance transparency throughout the college.  Awareness of what's going on in school helps engage students in the CECS community, and it also opens up more opportunities in unique ways.
