• Quality Systems Engineer Intern Position

  Of special interest to those majoring in Biomedical, Human Factors, or Industrial Systems Engineering, and Mechanical or Materials Engineering.

  Quality Systems Engineer Intern

  Appleton Paper West Carrollton Mill is part of an Employee Owned company. The mill has approximately 430 employees. Produces over 750 tons per day of carbonless business forms paper and thermal paper in addition to processing over 400 tons per day of wastepaper to supply recycled pulp to its paper machines.

  The Quality Systems Engineer Intern will provide project support to process control engineers in various functional areas, as well as the Quality Assurance department staff. This position is a full-time summer internship with flexible hours. Appleton will make every effort to work with the individual’s current schedule.

  Supporting Activities and Project Work may include such activities as:

  * Data collection and Process Capability analysis of current TOM specifications for paper machines
  * Gauge R & R studies for all Critical dry lab tests leading to lab lean certification
  * Participation in Kaizen event to support study and resolution of Quality or Operational issue
  * Review and update current Lab Standard Practices and develop new procedures based on Gauge R & R studies
  * Study of raw materials properties and make down conditions and the influence on final product
  * Acting statistician to perform correlation analysis of many factors to identify Critical Xs

  Desired Accomplishments/Skills/Education

  * Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office software, as well as other statistical tools such as Minitab
  * Candidate will need a strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control Theory
  * Working knowledge of problem solving tools such as 6 Sigma or KT would be beneficial
  * Candidate must be working toward an Chemical Engineering, Process Control, or Paper Science degree
  * Must be able to follow directions and work with minimum supervision
  * Previous industrial experience preferred

  Software Engineering Student Intern

  InfoSciTex Corporation (IST) is looking to fill an entry level internship for Software Engineering position within its Weapon System Effectiveness Group. IST is a research and development company focused on developing innovative solutions for the defense, aerospace, life sciences, energy, and environment markets. The Weapons Systems Effectiveness Group provides state-of-the-art modeling, simulations, and analysis services for the Air Force Research Laboratory Air Vehicles and Human Effectiveness Directorates in the Virtual Simulation Complex at WPAFB. Their work includes planning for and executing systems effectiveness analysis, human effectiveness analysis, technology trade space analysis, simulation development, simulation integration, control algorithm development, and test and evaluation management. The student intern will be mentored by simulation developers widely recognized in the modeling and simulation community for technical excellence.

  In this position the student intern will be assisting in the development, integration and assessment of advanced operator control stations associated with advanced unmanned air vehicles. This position requires a computer programming and scientific background. The student should be pursuing a degree in computer engineering or computer science with coursework in C++/C# and Java. Proficiency with Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications required.

  Candidates should also possess a strong willingness to learn, an attention to detail, an ability to work in a group environment. This person should be a problem solver with skills in implementing innovative software solutions and anjoy applying creative solutions to difficult problems.
