| Trojans & Spyware: an electronic Achilles: Trojans have become a very dangerous threat to internet users with their ability to reside in the user's system without their knowledge. The author explains the different dangers of Trojans especially for the field of online banking and discusses the security breaches in the recent past. He tries to explain the present scenario where bankers are very concerned about the threat to online banking and customers loss of faith in this system of e-commerce and how the banks are trying to come up with cost-effective methods to counter such attacks. Focus on trojans - holding data to ransom: Trojans are loaded into the victims computer with a malicious intent and can be used for a variety of purposes by the attacker. The attackers have however found an entirely new way of encrypting data on the victim's computer and then demanding ransom to decrypt that data. The Trojans in the earlier days of it's emergence required manual installation of a Trojan into the victim's computer to act, but with the internet which has become such a strong way of communication, the attackers have started using the internet to transfer these Trojans to the user's computer.
