Internship at InfoSciTex (posted 17 Nov 2009)
Software Engineering Student Intern
InfoSciTex Corporation (IST) is looking to fill an entry level internship for Software Engineering position within its Weapon System Effectiveness Group. IST is a research and development company focused on developing innovative solutions for the defense, aerospace, life sciences, energy, and environment markets. The Weapons Systems Effectiveness Group provides state-of-the-art modeling, simulations, and analysis services for the Air Force Research Laboratory Air Vehicles and Human Effectiveness Directorates in the Virtual Simulation Complex at WPAFB. Their work includes planning for and executing systems effectiveness analysis, human effectiveness analysis, technology trade space analysis, simulation development, simulation integration, control algorithm development, and test and evaluation management. The student intern will be mentored by simulation developers widely recognized in the modeling and simulation community for technical excellence.
In this position the student intern will be assisting in the development, integration and assessment of advanced operator control stations associated with advanced unmanned air vehicles. This position requires a computer programming and scientific background. The student should be pursuing a degree in computer engineering or computer science with coursework in C++/C# and Java. Proficiency with Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications required.
Candidates should also possess a strong willingness to learn, an attention to detail, an ability to work in a group environment. This person should be a problem solver with skills in implementing innovative software solutions and anjoy applying creative solutions to difficult problems.

Status: Preferred candidate will be in the start of their senior year, or enrolled in a Graduate or PhD program with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Sophomores of two year colleges will be considered.
Residency: All residencies accepted. Ohio state residents preferred.
Major: All majors are accepted. Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, MIS, Marketing, Economics or related business majors preferred.
Availability: Student must be available at a minimum of 15 hours a week; minimum of 5 hour block per work day.

WPAFB Aeronautical Systems Center Career Fair - Aug 27 (posted 25 Aug 2009)
The Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is hosting a Career Fair to fill professional mid-career level (non-entry level) positions at the Ervin J. Nutter Center's Arena on August 27, 2009 from 9AM to 3PM. Attendees are asked to park in Lot 9. Professionals with advanced degrees and/or specialized experience in the areas of Life Cycle Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Cost Estimating, Budgeting, Finance, Contracting, Procurement, Program Management, Configuration and Data Management, and Engineering are encouraged to attend with resumes in hand. Hiring officials will be available to discuss job opportunities with attendees. Starting salary for most positions is $68,825 per year.
ASC program managers will be on hand to provide perspective employees an overview of the programs and aircraft platforms where resources are needed. Positions to be filled provide support to Foreign Military Sales, Unmanned Air Vehicles, Combat Support Systems, Weapon Systems, and the Modernization and Sustainment of existing weapon systems.
Requirements for employment include: United States citizenship, having or being able to obtain a Security Clearance (some positions may require drug testing), occasional travel away from the normal duty station via military or commercial aircraft, and some positions may require the selectee' to work overtime. Selections will be made without regard to non-merit factors such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, age, politics, disability, or sexual orientation, which do not relate to successful performance of the duties of the position except where specifically authorized by law.

Junior Programmer/Computer Engineer Needed (posted 25 Aug 2009)
Innovative Scientific Solutions, Inc. is looking for a self-motivated, detailed, and organized individual to join the experimental supersonic combustion research group and provide programming/computer support. This individual would work with minimal supervision in a team environment, learn new skills, adapt to changing needs, and communicate effectively (verbal and written).
Technical skills: programming with C, FORTRAN, and BASH; Linux/Windows/MAC system administration/maintenance; hardware/software/network troubleshooting and repair. Additional experience with instrumentation, data-acquisition, and control systems desirable.
Education/background: BS in Computer Science with co-op/intern experience in research lab environment OR BS in ME/Aero/Electrical Engineering with very strong programming and computer experience.
Primary responsibilities: maintain/develop data-acquisition, control, and data-processing software suite; admin/maintenance of workstations, clusters, LAN, and related devices; interface/integrate research equipment into main software suite; backups, documentation, etc. Will also be assigned other laboratory responsibilities as needed.
