Summary of Requirements

Doctor of Philosophy Degree

In

Computer Science and Engineering

A student must

  • Satisfy the residency requirements.
  • Complete the course and credit requirements with a minimum grade point average of 3.0
  • Have an approved program of study on file in the department and graduate school offices.
  • Pass the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination.
  • Assemble a Dissertation Committee and have it approved by the Director of the Ph.D. Program, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies.
  • Identify a research topic and present the proposed research to the Dissertation Committee and the public in the Candidacy Examination.
  • Deliver a computer file containing an approved dissertation, in pdf format, to the department office and to the School of Graduate Studies.
  • Apply for graduation and be registered in the quarter in which the degree is conferred.
  • Satisfy all the requirements listed in the School of Graduate Studies Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Complete all of the requirements within a ten year period.
