Major functions of the Institute include supporting basic and industrially significant research, and facilitating the technology transfer of research results. ITRI serves both as a gateway to University resources and as a vehicle to speed the introduction of leading edge technology to commercial and government use. Wright State University has recognized expertise in engineering, science, and other disciplines in which Information Technology offers vital assistance and promises new advances. ITRI has attracted many outstanding faculty and graduate student researchers from across the campus. Excellent physical resources and computing facilities, innovative programs, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration further support the operation of the Institute. The Institute combines traditional academic strengths in research and education with the University’s role as an economic development partner. Over the past 30 years Wright State has shown that campus and corporate sectors can effectively work together for their mutual benefit while enhancing the state's economic climate. WSU has a distinguished record of interaction with industry in Ohio plus a firm commitment to community service. ITRI plans to expand a natural and vigorous relationship with both large industrial firms and small high-tech companies in the state.
