The Wright State University Libraries are the newest member of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Depository Library (PTDL) program. By becoming a PTDL, the University Libraries offer a unique collection and supporting services to the University Community. The collection, almost complete, is housed in the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library and will include patents from 1790 to present and trademarks from 1870 to present on DVD. Additionally, it includes search tools such as the Patent Classification Manual and Index, instructional materials, and information on application procedures, regulations, and current intellectual property news. Much of this information is also available on the Internet; however, the on-site collection assures more reliable access, consistent quality, improved printing and saving for document production, as well as on-site staff support. Also, the University Libraries receive computer hardware and software to support the collections, continuous training from the US Patent and Trademark Office, and special access to USPTO experts.
