I built Norm Abram's queen-size bed for Rachel in 2002. Polly didn’t want the canopy part of it, so Dad made some finials instead. The posts are mahogany and the rest is made of cherry. I bought the materials from the Frank Miller company in Indiana. If you’ve never been, you’ve got to go see the place. Make sure you get to go in the warehouse behind the showroom: I consider it to be like a cathedral! So much wood, so little money. They have wood stacked on pallets 12 feet high. I bought a single plank of mahogany for all of the posts: It was 4.5 inches thick, 13.5 inches wide, and 13 feet long! Simply stunning.
