Roger lived three houses down from me from my earliest recollections until I was thirteen. He was athletically gifted from a very early age. When I was about 10 and Roger about 9, we rode our bicycles to the field behind what used to be Stonequarry Elementary. He had built an Estes Saturn V rocket, and we took it there to launch it. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen: about 18 inches tall, molded plastic, with three or four engines. The launch was flawless, but the engines melted the parachute. I remember Roger making a spectacular diving catch, saving the thing from certain destruction. I'm glad that the "Rocket" finally has his ring.
