Computerized Data Acquisition System

Under the Operator's Console is the data acquisition board tied to the PC, and a 15 volt power supply which is required to drive some of the sensors.

This picture shows the monitoring function of the engine control system. We can monitor the engine rpm, manifold air pressure, coolant temperature, exhaust gas oxygen sensor voltage, manifold air temperature, spark advance, air/fuel ratio, throttle position sensor voltage, and battery voltage. There are many parameters that must be set which are specific to the engine you are controlling, but we can set some of these parameters "on the fly" with this system. For instance, we can change the spark advance and injector parameters while the engine is running. As you can see, the exhaust gas oxygen (EGO) sensor has been a little flaky lately (message at the top of the screen).
