SAFE 2007 Call For Papers
SAFE 2007 is the first in a series of biannual workshops on the topic of Signal Processing Applications for Public Security and Forensics, organized by the Industry DSP Standing Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. SAFE 2007 will bring together experts, researchers, and practitioners in the area of signal analysis and sensor engineering. The workshop will consist of:
- Keynote Talks - Listen to keynote talks from and interact with experts in the field.
- Working Sessions - Participate in working sessions to identify areas where innovations in signal processing can benefit homeland and public security applications. These will be summarized in a small number of white papers at the end of the workshop, which will be published in the proceedings.
SCOPE
Papers are solicited for, but not limited to, the following general areas:
- Fundamental technical issues in sensor-based security systems, related to sampling, signal acquisition and preparation, data analysis, and identification of multi-modal signals.
- State-of-the art in collaborative signal analysis and sensor engineering to address border and public security.
- Policy aspects of technical solutions; e.g., impact on personal privacy, international standards, existing legal frameworks, etc.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to the areas of Bio detection, Infrastructure for anticipatory sensor networks, Context aware data reduction and summarization, Mining and trend analysis, Information accrual and heterogeneous sensor data fusion, RFID and agreeable targets, Sensor web and intelligent ambiance.
Prospective participants are encouraged to submit to the Program Chair short papers or extended abstracts: 2-4 pages, including figures and references, and suitable for publication in the Proceedings. Authors of accepted submissions will be expected to participate in the event in person for working sessions. All submissions will be handled and reviewed electronically. Email papers to R.M. Rao at mrreee@rit.edu.
