Become a SponsorOn behalf of the Wright State University College of Engineering & Computer Science, our Trebuchet Steering Committee respectfully invites your company's involvement/sponsorship of this year's Trebuchet contest designed to encourage innovation and interest in engineering and science among high school youth. The contest takes place at the Nutter Center during the College's celebration of National Engineer's Week. Please come watch the fun! Celebrating the legacy of the Wright Brothers, this event introduces and reinforces students' interest in math and science, spurs innovation and creativity, and is a place where they learn about career opportunities in engineering. Most WSU graduates continue to live and work throughout the Miami Valley. Established in 1986, the College of Engineering and Computer Science now has more than 6,500 graduates from its award-winning, professionally accredited programs. Approximately 1,500 students are enrolled in the college's undergraduate, graduate and doctorate programs annually. More than 30 Trebuchet high school teams and 200 students from our business region (see 2005 High School Invitees list (pdf) ) will compete by tossing squash balls at least 35 feet in the air at the "enemy team." The winning team will be the Trebuchet army that hits the most enemy flags or eliminates all the other teams. (Trebuchet is a medieval device for hurling projectiles.) This educational program has the excitement of a sporting event. Students research the history and physics involved in a trebuchet and gain an understanding of the engineering design process as they develop a product to its final usage. There will be broad media coverage and visibility for our sponsorship companies. Our total sponsorship goal this year is $15,000. Sponsorship levels are:
Sponsors Will Receive: signage at the event, a web link on the Trebuchet website unless otherwise indicated, press release coverage, and visibility through the College of Engineering and Computer Science newsletter, Bits and PCs, that goes to thousands of constituents throughout the state and beyond. To participate, simply complete the charitable gift [tax-deductible] form (pdf) and return it by December 17 to receive your year-end tax savings. A WSU student or volunteer from the Trebuchet Advisory Committee will call you over the next several weeks to determine your interest and participation level. We appreciate your consideration of supporting this important event that promotes engineering education -- and ultimately benefits our Miami Valley business region. The event will bring significant visibility to your company, too! Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely,
|
