Base Station Architectures
Robert F. Getsfred
The architecture of wireless base stations depends upon the type of modulation employed by the transceiver as well as the access – time division or code division. I plan to explore a base station transceiver employing P /4 DPSK modulation. As I develop this type, the necessary access will (TDMA or CDMA) will become apparent or at least described. If time permits, I also propose to build a model using Simulink to describe some of the effects of transmission from this type of modulation as well as reception and demodulation.
Perhaps a little switching theory and a description of the techniques used to connect the cellular subscriber to the PTSN may be appropriate as well since this interface is an important part of the base station operation.
I have secured at least one paper from the IEEE dealing with the subject of base station design utilizing this modulation type. My research is not complete yet. I find this subject to be very interesting and my topic may change. However, this is my interest right now.
