Dr. Gallimore is a Professor in the
Department of Biomedical, Industrial and Human Factors Engineering. She received
her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1989. Dr. Gallimore applies human
factors engineering principles to the design of complex systems. She conducts
research in the areas of aviation spatial orientation and investigation of pilot
spatial sensory reflexes, design of displays for advanced cockpits, design of
displays for interactive semi-autonomous remotely operated vehicles including
uninhabited combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs), human performance in virtual
environments, and human factors issues in medical systems. She is currently
working with colleagues to investigate electroneurophysiologic techniques to
study pilot spatial disorientation and conducting research on interactive
displays for uninhabited combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs). Dr. Gallimore has
published over 25 articles and has taught 11 different courses related to human
factors engineering. She has received over 1.6 million dollars of grant funding
from various organizations. She is a recipient of the 2001 AIAA Simulation and
Modeling Best Paper Award, and the WSU College of Engineering and Computer
Science Excellence in Research Award 2001/2002. She is a member of the Human
Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), International Ergonomics Association (IEA),
the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA), and the Aerospace Human Factors
Association.
