Electronic Nose Dr. R. Gutierrez-Osuna Sponsors: USE, NSF, ITRI Health and safety concerns in modern work environments often require sensors that can detect odors, gasses, and contaminants early enough that corrective action can be taken in time. This is especially true in certain industrial and military work areas. Dr. Gutierrez-Osuna is researching the use of machine olfaction to provide such sensory capabilities. His Electronic Nose is designed to use advanced sensing devices and pattern recognition to detect problems quickly so that sufficient warning can occur and deficiencies can be redressed.. |
