OSIS Lab
Operating Systems & Internet Security

The OSIS lab is located in 429 Russ.

Even though security in the OSIS Lab is deliberately loose so that it is a playground for security courses, we take ethics and personal responsibility seriously.

The Lab has 30 PCs, all networked.   Each PC can be independently booted by students into one of several variations of Linux, or Windows XP Professional.  Each PC is set up so that it can be run "properly" even when disconnected from the network.

Multi OS boot setup

We show our respect to great computer scientists and engineers in a small way by using names of the
ACM-Turing-Award Winners.

The PCs are remotely managed.  Please do NOT turn them off.

The lab is intended for use by students and others interested in Operating Systems and Internet Security.  The OSIS Lab is swipe-card accessible 24/7 to all students enrolled in CEG 333, CEG 429/629, CEG 434/633, CEG 434/634, CEG 730, and CEG 830 and also to all faculty of CSE. Visitors can evaluate our lab via login-id guest (password guest007)account.
