Dr. Ravi Penmetsa joined the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering as an Assistant Professor in January 2003. He received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the Andhra University, India, and his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wright State University. Prior to starting as a faculty Dr. Penmetsa was working as a senior research associate on a project sponsored by Wright Patterson Air Force Base. His research interests are in uncertainty quantification, robust design, design optimization, and finite element methods. Much of his research focused on developing uncertainty quantification techniques that would enable analytically certification of complex nonlinear-systems. Dr. Penmetsa received “Young Researcher Fellowship” award for his research work published at “First MIT conference on computational solid and fluid mechanics”. Dr. Penmetsa is the author of several conference and archival journal papers, and is a member of ASME and AIAA.
