CEG860 Winter 2009 Prasad
Presentation (15 pts)
The presentation topics fall under the broad area of Object Technology. (Past topics have included UML, J2EE, .NET, Aspect Oriented Programming, Ruby, Semantic Web and Web Services, CORBA, RFID, Component Software, Mobile Computing, etc among others.) You are to choose a topic of your interest, and address the what (goals, general approach, architecture), the why (problems, issues, motivation), and the how (specifics, details) of these topics, through simple, concrete, illustrative examples. You should focus on the fundamentals that all of us should assimilate and get it across properly. Avoid bandying buzz words, confusing jargons, and sweet nothings.
You will work individually and plan 60 min talk (plus 15 min for questions / clarifications / discussions). You should email the MS Powerpoint presentation to t.k.prasad@wright.edu at least two days before the scheduled talk and turnin your final polished presentation on paladin.wright.edu or unixapps1.wright.edu two days after the scheduled talk using the following command:
/common/public/tkprasad/ceg860/turnin-pa1
TALK-TITLE.ppt
Instead of a separate term paper, include all the relevant details in the Notes pages. I will broadcast the presentation to the rest of the class after I receive it in email.
Your talk will be evaluated both on the form and the content. There is a lot of material available online, so make judicious use of the Web resources, giving credit to the sources where appropriate. I repeat, the emphasis should be to make the concepts understandable to the entire class, not to dazzle the class with technicalities and verbiage that you yourself are shaky about. You are also expected to evaluate each other's presentations using letter grades (A,B,C,D,F).
