Woodworking is an excellent hobby for me for several reasons:

1.    I am very project oriented and I get a great deal of enjoyment in seeing a project through to completion.

2.    I like a challenge.

3.    I enjoy using my mind to try to optimize the processes and to minimize the amount of materials needed.

4.    I like to show my friends and family the latest project.

5.    I love buying power tools!

I apprenticed (and still learn) from my father, Howard. He taught me that, with a small number of tools, you can do good work. He also has taught me the most important aspect of woodworking: How to correct the mistakes that are made. I believe that this hobby requires courage on several levels. Obviously, the machines are dangerous, and should be handled with great care (see Scott’s cool tools below). That is one form of courage. Another is purely financial: Ruining a single board of cherry can be quite expensive! Yet another type of courage is being able to try new ways of doing things. Below are a few photos.
